Supporting Research Accuracy Through Quieter Air Distribution

A laboratory works to two fixed criteria at once: an acoustic target and a particulate limit. Neither can be met by a single component, because the return-path sound level and the filter duty both follow from the design airflow.
The selections below coordinate the grille free area, the plenum dimensions and the filter specification against that airflow, and are assessed using published pressure-loss and sound data.
To specify this, send the design airflow, the acoustic target, the particulate limit, the filter housing dimensions and the market.

Three constraints, and the products that answer them
Precision engineering transforms complex environmental challenges into strategic opportunities for performance and efficiency.

Coordinating the return path
Generated noise at the return follows from the design airflow, the grille free area and face size, and the pressure loss through the whole path, including the chamber.

Metal and panel return-air plenums are listed across 322 product codes, so chamber dimensions can be coordinated with the selected grille and the design airflow. Assess face velocity and pressure loss against the acoustic target using published data for the selected components. In-duct acoustic lining is a separate enquiry.

Selecting the return face
Free area and face size set the velocity at the grille for a given design airflow, which is what governs the noise generated at the face.

An egg crate core offers a high free area for a given face size. Ten listed sizes from 150 x 150 mm to 1150 x 550 mm, plus a hinged filter core variant for filter access. Size the face against the design airflow and the target face velocity.
Holding the particulate limit
Filter selection follows the design airflow and the particulate limit the laboratory works to. Both are project inputs.
Sourcing enquiry and evidence request. Enhanced filter media is not a listed family in the current Staark catalogue. Send the housing dimensions, the design airflow, the particulate limit and the market, and request the applicable test evidence before specifying.
